Family policies
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A child with a fever, a rash or a stomach illness stays home until the next morning without symptoms. If a child is unwell at school, a guide calls a parent and the child rests in a quiet corner until someone arrives.
Drop-off and pickup
A guide greets each child at the door in the morning and walks each child to the right car at the end of the day. Only the adults on a family's pickup list may collect a child, and we ask for ID from anyone we do not know.
Closures for weather and holidays
The school closes for the usual holidays and for a winter and a spring break, which the office lists in the fall. For snow, the office sends a text and an email by 6:30 am, and the website says so as well.
Leaving the program
We ask for a term's written notice before a child leaves, so the room can offer the place to a family on the waitlist.
Screens and phones
Children do not use screens during the day, except for a guide-led research session in the upper room. Phones stay at home or in a bag in the office until dismissal.
What to wear and bring
There is no uniform. Children wear clothes they can get messy in, bring indoor shoes and a water bottle, and keep a change of clothes in their cubby. Rain boots and a coat are for the yard in every season.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Families send lunch, and the school provides a snack at midmorning. Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll, and each room keeps its plan.
Absences and late arrival
Call or text the office before 8:30 am if a child will be absent or late. Children who arrive after the morning work cycle has begun come in quietly and join their room.
